Our Impact

We exist to ensure that no one in South Bristol or the Chew Valley faces crisis alone.

Every year, we support hundreds of individuals and families with food, guidance, and compassionate, practical help.

This page brings together our annual impact highlights, key statistics and stories of change. We believe in transparency, accountability, and celebrating the strength of our community.

Our Impact at a Glance

We measure our impact through session data, referral information, volunteer records, and feedback from the people we support. This helps us understand local need, improve our services, and ensure we are making a meaningful difference.

Each year, we see the reality of hardship in our community — and the power of compassion to change lives.

Stories of Change

Behind every statistic is a person, a family, a moment of crisis — and a moment of support. These stories remind us why our work matters — and why community compassion is so powerful.

“I didn’t know where to turn. Carpenters helped me get through the hardest time of my life. Now I’m back on my feet — and I’ve even been able to donate back.”

“Without this support, I wouldn’t have been able to take the job I was offered. The help with food and a bicycle changed everything.”

“The volunteers didn’t just give me food. They listened. They made me feel human again.”

How Donations are Used

We are committed to using every donation wisely and transparently. Your support helps us provide:

  • Food and essential items, including fresh produce, ambient goods, toiletries, and pet food

  • Operational costs, such as storage, equipment, and safe working environments

  • Volunteer support and training, ensuring sessions are delivered with dignity and care

Guidance and signposting, helping people access wider support, advice, and opportunities. Every pound helps someone move from crisis toward stability.

Looking Ahead

Our vision is a community where everyone has access to the resources, they need to live free from poverty. In the coming year, we aim to:

  • Strengthen partnerships with local organisations

  • Increase access to fresh and healthy food

  • Expand advocacy work to influence local policy

  • Continue improving systems and training

  • Support more households with dignity and compassion

We will keep updating this page as our work grows.

Thank You

Our impact is only possible because of the generosity of donors, volunteers, partners, and supporters. Every act of kindness — every tin, every hour volunteered, every donation — helps someone feel seen, supported, and valued.

Together, we are building a community where no one faces crisis alone.
