Bring Hope, Kindness, and Community

Your time can change someone’s hardest day into a moment of dignity, support, and hope.

Every week, people walk through our doors carrying heavy burdens — stress about money, fear about the future, the shock of suddenly finding themselves in crisis, or the exhaustion of trying to hold everything together. Some are overwhelmed. Some are embarrassed. Some are in tears. Many have never asked for help before.

Our volunteers are independent of statutory agencies, non-judgmental, and committed to providing a warm welcome, a listening ear, and compassionate support. For many clients, a volunteer may be the first friendly face they meet when facing difficult circumstances. Clients are encouraged to speak openly and honestly, knowing that what they share will remain confidential within Carpenter’s Food & Support unless they give their express permission for information to be shared with another organisation, such as South Bristol Advice Service.

Progress matters. People matter. And volunteers make that possible.

Who Can Volunteer?

You don’t need experience — just kindness, reliability, and a willingness to help. We welcome people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. Whether you can help weekly or occasionally, we’d love to have you.

If you have access needs or specific requirements, we’ll work with you to make volunteering comfortable and positive.
