You don’t need experience — just reliability, compassion, and a willingness to help. We’ll provide all the training you need.

Volunteer Enquiry

Food Packing & Sorting

These roles keep our shelves stocked and our food crates ready for families who need them.

What you might do:

Prepare food crates with care and attention
Sort donations as they arrive
Check dates and organise stock
Keep the store area tidy and running smoothly
NB: it may well involve some heavy lifting.

This role is ideal if you enjoy practical tasks and working as part of a team.

Food Collection

Collect food from a variety of collection points and bring it back to the Withywood Centre between the hours of 9am and 5pm. Ensuring food is stored correctly e.g. chilled or frozen.

You will need a van or a large car and be able to lift heavy crates.

Current collections:

2 collections a week from Sainsburys Winterstoke Road.
M&S 8.15pm Tuesday evening
Morrisons and Lidls – Wednesday morning

Ad-hoc other places eg schools for harvest festival donations.

Client Support

Client-facing volunteers help create a calm, welcoming environment for people who may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure.

What you might do:

Welcome clients as they arrive
Offer a listening ear
Help people feel comfortable and respected
Support the smooth running of sessions

This role suits people who are empathetic, patient, and good at putting others at ease.

Administration & Back Office

These roles help keep everything organised and running efficiently.

What you might do:

Data entry
Organising paperwork
Supporting the team during sessions
Putting everything away at the end of a session
Helping with grant applications

Perfect for people who enjoy structure, detail, and supporting others from behind the scenes.

Community & Fundraising Support

Help us connect with the wider community and raise vital support.

What you might do:

Assist at supermarket collections
Support events
Raise awareness in the community
Help with fundraising activities

Great for people who enjoy engaging with others and representing the charity.
